Code Enforcement Repair Program (CERP)

The City of Canton and CBP have partnered to create a program to assist low-to-moderate income homeowners who have code violations on the outside of their homes but are unable to afford the necessary repairs. The Code Enforcement Repair Program is available to income-eligible homeowners in the City of Canton who have received code violation notices for minor items. The goal of this program is to help residents correct violation to bring their homes into compliance with the City’s building codes, ensuring the safety, health, and livability of their homes. It is not intended to cover the cost of full replacements or major renovations. 

Program Guidelines

  • Applicant must be a resident of the City of Canton
  • Applicant must have received a violation from the City of Canton Code Enforcement Office
  • Household income must fall under 80% of the area median income (see chart)
  • Applicant must be current on property taxes and all Canton City utilities
  • Work will only be completed by licensed, insured contractors.

Income Limits

Household income will be determined using the income of all working household members. The household must fall under 80% of the Area Median Income. See the chart below.

The City of Canton Department of Development operates several rehabilitation programs outside of the Code Enforcement Violation Program. Visit them online or call 330-489-3040.
